We are so glad you have joined us to celebrate the Risen Lord and to hear a message this morning from Sheryl Shaw. We look forward to seeing you online with us! Feel free to chat with us in the chat box.
Sheryl Shaw’s sermon emphasizes the importance of missions and how God precedes us in our efforts to spread the gospel. She shares personal stories and biblical narratives to illustrate that God prepares the way and calls us to cross various barriers to reach others.
She recounts the biblical story of Cornelius, a Roman centurion who has a vision of an angel. The angel tells him that God has heard his prayers and instructs him to send for Peter, emphasizing that God precedes us in our mission work.
Sheryl explains that God often asks us to cross uncomfortable boundaries and reach out to people we may not understand or like, just as Peter was asked to do with Cornelius. She provides examples of people overcoming significant barriers, such as Rwandan women worshipping together after the genocide. Sheryl encourages the congregation to consider what barriers God is asking them to cross and to trust that God is already at work ahead of them, preparing the way for their mission efforts.
