We move towards what matters, whether it be the refrigerator, the
workplace, our friends or what lies on the other side of our front doors. Some things matter more than others, but most important things generally lie just beyond our reach when we're seated.
These steps, accumulated into jaunts, constitutionals, saunters, ambles, trudges, plods, hikes, tramps, tromps, slogs, stomps, treks, marches, patrols, rambles, treads, promenades, roams, or moseys, (thank you
thesaurus) lead to things much grander than just marking the syncopation of left, right, left, right, left, right. But these grander things often don't occur at all without the confident regularity of alternating forward motion.
This Fall, join us as we take 1 STEP together as a parish. Six simple ways to connect with Jesus' mission and ours. Identifying six simple practices that can help us get in step with Jesus, and the Spirit, learning to move as He moved and continues to move to accomplish the greater things He has
promised.
At the end of the day, when we have to think about everything we do, we all do much less. Jesus, in His kindness and wisdom, gave the church some simple practices that begin to work in us and through us for the good of the world. Like compound interest, learning to Serve, Trust, Eat and Pray together as an expression of our 1 fundamental commitment of faith in Jesus Christ gives us grace to move towards the places and people Jesus loves.
Small groups are forming and reforming and will be getting started in the next couple of weeks, and you can sign up on Sunday during our Kickoff Breakfast at 9am or at the services. For six sessions, there will be a ten minute video and questions to help put these practices into practice. Bishop Carl gets us started in Session One and other staff follow in weeks to come. This Sunday, we kick off Fall Sunday School for children Ages 3- Grade 6. Don't miss a great chance to invite a friends or family with you for breakfast at 9 and Sunday School during the service.
This Sunday, we will look together at the amazing focus and leverage of ONE, and how Moses and Paul lead us to celebrate the amazing offer Jesus presents to his followers.
